Double-sided pictorial installation

3 elements, Ø 151 cm each, including frame
Acrylic, watercolor, silver leaf, copper leaf, and collage on paper

Created between 2022 and 2026, the three Mandala- Cartographie works form an evolving research project around the poppy, the history of drugs, and the systems of knowledge surrounding them. Each work is double-sided, with no hierarchy between the two sides, and proposes a different form of subjective cartography: historical circulation, systems of exploitation, a research labyrinth, a mapped body, or mirrored colonial and pharmaceutical mechanisms.

Mandala-Cartographie #1 — The Routes of the Poppy, 2022
The work traces the historical and geographical circulation of the poppy toward Yunnan and the Golden Triangle, while connecting these movements to colonial and capitalist mechanisms of extraction.

Mandala-Cartographie #2 — Genealogy of the Drug Problem, 2023
The work brings together historical transformations that contributed to the construction of what is now called the “drug problem,” while its reverse takes the form of a research labyrinth.

Mandala-Cartographie #3 — This Body Is Not a Map, 2026
The work examines cartography as a tool of knowledge by bringing ethnobotanical appropriation, colonial control, and contemporary mechanisms of the pharmaceutical industry into relation.
